Norco (Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen) for Endometriosis

Overview
Norco is a prescription drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat moderate to moderately severe pain. Norco is a combination drug containing hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Hydrocodone and acetaminophen are also sold in combination under the brand name Vicodin.

Hydrocodone is an opioid, or synthetic opiate, that works as a potent analgesic (painkiller). Acetaminophen is an analgesic and antipyretic (fever reducer). Both drugs are believed to work by reducing the perception of pain.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, regular use of opioids - even as prescribed by a doctor - can lead to dependence. If misused, opioids can cause overdose and death.

How do I take it?
Prescribing information states that Norco is taken every four to six hours.

Norco comes as a tablet.

Side effects
The FDA-approved label for Norco lists common side effects including drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, and vomiting.

Rare but serious side effects listed for Norco include addiction, liver failure, severe skin and hypersensitivity reactions, respiratory depression (inadequate breathing), increased head pressure, and acute abdominal problems.
