Successful Birth Control Options??

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Just wondering what birth control has been successful for you all to help minimize endo growing back and help with the pain. I have been on several types of birth control and nothing seems to work. I've been on Seasonique since before surgery 2 months ago. It has made me bleed for 5 straight weeks and my symptoms are much worse. After talking to my doctor she suggested going back to regular cycle birth control pills. I'm iffy because they haven't worked well in the past and don't seem to be… read more

There's other options too. There's Nexplanon. It's the same idea as an IUD, but instead of going down there, it goes in the arm. It lasts 3 years....can be replaced then with a new one. It can be removed any time and then the next cycle if one wants they can theoretically become pregnant.

She will not place an IUD for anyone that's not been pregnant before. I would gladly try it if she would do it and if the risks of it didn't scare me so bad. Unfortunately I feel like there aren't very many options :(

IUD is not just for when you have been pregnant before. I would suggest talking with your doctor about it. I've never been pregnant before myself and its helped me. I no longer get a period but I do get a little bit of endo pains. Not too bad of pains but some. Just remember there are risks for all birth controls. This includes the IUD as well. I've been in the same situation as you are now and my success was with the IUD and before I got that inserted I was successful on the depo shot. But like I said before....talk with your doctor first.

Lol oh trust me I feel like ive been on every kind.of birth control and other meds but as far as side effects and such this has been the least consequential so I dont wanna mess with something thats working, even if it is just minimal.

That is the exact pill I was on before I just took it as regular. I didn't think it helped. Can't seem to find anything that helps :(
