What To I Have To Do To Find A Good Doctor?
So today I met with a new doctor who was "specialized" in endo. I think the only thing she was specializing in was being a bitch. The gyno that I love referred me to her because she has more experience with surgery. Unfortunately as soon as I got into the exam room I was told to strip from the waste down before I even met her and then after a million questions she told me she doesn't think I have endometriosis... I have had a laparoscopy surgery 2x with different doctors that both told me I had… read more
I have had experience with rare things going on in my body. I was misdiagnosed with MS and treated for it for 4 years! The last treatment I had almost killed me, literally. While I was in the hospitality had a team of doctors who cleared me of the MS diagnosis, but didn't have an answer to the cause of my symptoms. A year later I went to the ER in severe pain. An incidental finding of a cyst on my lower spine gave me hope of an answer. I went. To several different doctors who all told me that the cyst was asymptomatic, so not to worry about it. I continued my pursuit and finally found a doctor willing to listen. Come to find out that cyst had eroded my sanctum to almost nothing! I had surgery and have had no pain in that area since! I say all of this to encourage you to never give up! If one doctor doesn't listen then move on to the next. I understand how frustrating it is, and that is only one example from my personal history. Right now I am searching for a doctor to give me a definitive diagnosis of endometriosis on the diaphragm and for a doctor who is willing to treat it. I pray you find a doctor soon!
I feel your pain. Life is so hard dealing with this disease and the lack of knowledge most gynecologists have is just ridiculous!!!
Definately inform your gyn that you had a very negative experience with this doc and ask for a new referal to a different doc, even if they have less experience.
I did and he called and left me a message today telling me how sorry he was. He has me going into a pre op appointment next week with him. Even though he's not as experienced he's the only doctor I've had so far that has actually cared how miserable I am. I wish they were all understanding and compassionate. It would make it easier for everyone.
Thank you. I hope you get the help you need to treat it too. That is horrible that you had to go through all of that for pretty much nothing!
