I'm Afriad To Go On Visanne. Is The Pill Enough?
I recently had a lap and was diagnosed with stage 1 ( very minimal ) endo. I have been on the pill for upwards of 10 years ( with a few breaks in between) I started the pill for my skin, but as i got older i stayed on it because the period pains off it were too much to bear. I really think the pill has helped my endo from progressing. After diagnosis my gynae perscribed me visanne. He said i can continue on the pill while on visanne ( but i read otherwise on the net, and also read some very… read more
You're really not supposed to take anything else with Visanne because it will interfere with the hormones. My gynae said the Visanne works like a contraceptive pill though (results only recently released at a conference) because it basically stops ovulation
It really helps for pain, but watch for depression (you won't cry all the time, but you'll almost feel like your emotions are caged and you're never truly happy)

if you go to the 4th page it says:
"During treatment, patients are advised to use non-hormonal methods of contraception (eg, barrier method) if contraception is required. Hormonal methods of contraception should not be used in combination with VISANNE"
Hi there. I have been on visanne for 2 months. My doctor said you absolutely cannot be on the pill and visanne at the same time as the two contradict each other. One is estrogen and visanne is progesterone..I was on the pill and it was horrific! No relief from the pain whatsoever, I think it made my symptoms worse. Visanne has helped considerably with the pain, but the side effects have affected me quite a bit. I get migraines (which I never used to), nausea all day, and I'm so tired I feel like all I do is sleep. I expressed these concerns to my specialist and she said it can take 3-6 months for my body to adjust. So my advice is you should definitely try it if your doctor is advising you to. It is one of the only treatments for endo sufferers that can slow down the progression of it. The BC pill doesn't do that.
Thank's so much for your input! Were you ever on the pill beforehand? Because the pill in itself is perscribed at a means of inhibiting the growth of endo. Also, are you experiencing any terrible side effect from Visanne? So happy it's working so well for you!
No you can't because it stops ovulation
