Visanne (Visannette) For Treating Cysts.

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

So my gynecologist prescribed me Visanne to treat my approx. 4cm chocolate cyst. She didn't want to make a laporoscopy, because of my young age (24, not that young), saying that acording to latest studies, this is away how to treat endometriomas, without the menstruations, it might dry up and dissapear. I haven't found a proof for such scenario nor here or elswere
I have been on Vissane for only a week. But I feel horrible. I am suffering every day. I am in constant bad mood, starting to cry… read more

I was on visanne for nearly 2 months. The side effects were pathetic. Same as you described . Got emotional sometimes, got angry easily. Relationship also got affected. I had cyst on my right ovary around 4cms. The cyst did disappear, but suddenly started bleeding in small clots. The visanne won't let menstruation happen but the cyst might have got ruptured and small clots started to come out with sudden unbearable pain. Had endometriosis for a long time like more than a decade. Adenomyosis had already ruined my life. Now a week back had total hysterectomy surgery. Will recover soon Inshaallah. Hope you also get some solution for the same. Take care .

I took visanne for years it helped a great deal. It did however tske several months for my body and the drug to get along. I was off mentally and very speratic periods, but stayed hopeful and I did level out. However I recently had to have a hysterectomy as a result of many large fibroids. When i looked up what causes fibroids to grow it said progestérone. Which is what Visanne is.. I can not say this was the cause but would say be careful, do your research and ask lots of questions.

Hi Laima, I was searching for vissane users and saw this post. Did your cyst shrink with vissane? Thanks

I’m 25 - I’ve been on visanne since December and had my first laparoscopy last month to remove a 9cm cyst on my left ovary. By the time I actually had surgery (waited from November till the end of February), it had grown to 13cm and he couldn’t safely remove the cyst without damaging my ovary, so he removed & drained half of it. The cyst was about 8cm a week after surgery, but now 4 weeks later it’s shrunk to 5cm from the visanne. I’ve done a lot of research reading professional studies, and about 4-6 months of being on progestin pills (they are not progesterone) they will start to shrink. But I also wouldn’t be scared of surgery either as long as your surgeon is skilled. I think maybe your doctor isn’t an expert in the surgery so that’s maybe why she is putting it off.
