Two Periods In One Month When On The Pill
Has anyone else experienced having 2 periods in 1 month when on birth control? I've been switched onto another brand of birth control and have been on it for 3 months. It worked at first, but now I'm back to having 2 periods a month - it feels like it never ends! :'( I'm thinking of going off birth control since it hardly helps me regardless of whether I take it or not. Please give suggestions if you have any!!
I had a horrible time on birth control pills (tried a few varieties) including spotting in between periods and then bleeding non stop for multiple months at a time. I had excision surgery and decided to stay off bc after that to let my body reset. Been completely off bc for a year and a half and periods are within normal cycle range and length, no intermittent spotting. My husband and I just use condoms now which isn’t always ideal but it seems to be the best option for me anyway. I don’t like how my body reacts to hormones, especially with endo. Everyone is different though, so trust your instincts and listen to what your body is trying to tell you. And make sure you have a good doctor that listens & tries to work with you as well 😊
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member There really is always a catch with these pills. I was on Qlaira for a just over two months, apparently it is very similar to Zoely. I had constant spotting and bleeding and then the pain kicked in, I could barely walk. It was horrible. My doc told me that the combination was just not suitable at all and that 2 months of spotting and bleeding was a clear indication of that. The pill I had the least amount of issues while taking was Melodene but again the pain was pretty excruciating. Some of the side effects like headaches and nausea dissipates over time but if it's still an issue after the 3 month mark, you'll have to switch to something else.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I was on Zoely then I was recently on Dianne ED 35. I finished the last tray last Thursday and so far my period has gone back to how it was before my gyno put me on the pill. My period is slightly more regular when I wasn't on the pill, but the tradeoff was cramps, headaches and nausea :(
@HCH I can't tell you how much I relate to this! I've been on Nordette, Mirielle, Minerva, Melodene, Qlaira and Visanne. I quit the Visanne after 3 months because it made me crazier than the other, suicidal and my Endo pain returned. The specialist I went to diagnosed me with stage 2 Endo (I also have PCOS). My doc isn't too keen on surgery we're basically leaving that as the last option. After the Visanne drama she's told me IUDs and progesterone heavy pills aren't an option. There's basically one pill that I haven't tried and she prescribed it. Very long story short I quit all of it 2 months ago and I'm managing my pain and discomfort. I basically want to know if it's worth it to stay off these horrible pills?
Which birth control are you currently taking? It can be that either the type of progestin added is not right for you or the amount of the hormones in the pill is too little or too much. And for some people like me, it's just a never-ending story. On the majority of pills I've had my period for 2 months straight causing anemia.
