Is Endo Severity Similar In Family Members?
I've never posted here before but I'm feeling stressed out with trying to conceive and worrying I've got endo like my mum. I have not had an official diagnosis but my gynaecologist says it sounds like I do have it. My mum went her whole life without an official diagnosis and they only found it when they removed her ovaries due to ovarian cancer risk. She had heaps of endo and sticky cysts everywhere. I am turning 31 this year and have a lot of the same symptoms as my mum did at the end of her⦠read more
everyone seems to be different though overlapping on several conditions, and does seems to behave differently also with different people, some people seem extreme and others mild, though i don't know this condition very well. All that can do is read lots, i'm looking into buying books to understand more. speak with professionals, though sometimes they seem time constraint, keep at them though as its important to discuss this. maybe start a local group off line, and chat with others and support one another, many conceive. its natural to worry about this, as the information online seems to look scary, maybe scare mongering to a certain degree like anything the media puts together. if you want a child just go for it naturally, look after your body and do your best to feel less stressed also. spoil yourself, have me time, and have fun. you'll find on here many people who have been able to have children, it is possible. :)
Thanks for the answers everyone.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member - I have made another appointment to see my ob/gyn, which will be at the end of june. I have been really scared at the possibility of having surgery which is part of the reason why i have put off getting tested - medical stuff triggets my anxiety big time. But not being able to conceive is starting to trigger my anxiety too, so maybe having surgery would be helpful. I'll definitely discuss it at my appointment.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member - my mum had really heavy periods (she ended up anaemic) whereas i dont (only bleed for about 3 days usually, and prett light). So im hoping that means we wont be the same! But all of her sisters had ovarian cysts and issues with menopause so im guessing there is some kind of hereditary aspect to it. None of them had any problems gettinf pregnant but they were all in their teens/early 20s when they started Im just hoping i havent left trying to conceive too late.
Thanks again to everyone who replied.
My doctor told me that it can be genetic though they don't know 100%. My aunt and grandma had it, I have it and now my sister is being checked for it. Everyone who has had it in my family have had severe cases.
Nobody in my family has the condition, they have other conditions ie problem periods though they dont have endo, so im unsure whether it is genetic or not, or maybe it skips generations, or splits genes, and if someone is matched with a set they will have it, im unsure. My sister had poly cystic ovaries, other sister is heavy periods, my mum had really heavy periods and didnt have breaks from bleeding so ended up with a hysterectomy when she was in her 30's. it may vary in familys or could be the luck of the drawer.
hope all goes well for you and you conceive some day in the near future xx
I have endo & have problems & my sister who is a half sister same Mother also had it. She has no problems & I do. I have heard it runs in families but I think it depends on the person. Don't know for sure.
