Is Endo Diagnosed In Your Early Teens Or Twenties?
I'm 41 and talked to Dr about my pains! I asked if it could possibly be endometriosis, and her response was" No you wouldn't get it now. It should've been diagnosed in your early teens or twenties!" I've been in pain on and off for over 15 yrs and no diagnosis!!
Load of bull! Some people go their whole life without symptoms , the stage you have doesn’t correlate always with your pain level. I’ve done a lot of research and It can manifest and you can have pain only starting in your 40s. Not to mention if you were ever on birth control it can definitely mask symptoms. I’m 28 and was on it ten years and it definitely numbed my pain, which isn’t always good because I had no symptoms for years and didn’t speak up(how was I to know that stopping her pill after a decade and alllllll then stmptoms would manifest) . Also man that’s young people don’t get diagnosed precisely because the doctors didn’t know what it was / downplayed endo maybe because they aren’t excision surgeons and don’t “work” with endo. Your years of pain is proof enough!:(
I didn't get diagnosed until I was 36. I had bad pains when I first started my period. I would have a normal period, but cramp all of the time. The dr just put me on birth contol, but didn't say what he thought was wrong. They helped for many years & then at some point in my late twenties I stopped taking them. For all the next years, I had crazy periods, heavy ones, painful ones that got worse & worse over the years. I eventualylu just told myself that I was just getting older & maybe that's why my periods were getting worse. Until at 36 I couldnt walk cause the pain was so bad. I finally went to my dr & then drs after drs until my gyno thought it was endo & sure enough it is.
I was diagnosed at 16. Before the dr finally agreed to a lap, I was told all the bull crap I am sure most of us have heard...too young, it is normal pain, in your head, etc. The only reason my diagnosis was rather quick was because my Mom had endo as well as my 3 Aunts. She knew exactly what it was and used her stern teacher voice to make him do a lap lol. His treatments to help me after the diagnosis was ridiculous. Get pregnant, have a hysterectomy, or take Lupron injections for 6 months. Great choices right!! I chose Lupron. Gained 50 lbs in 6 months and after they were over everything came right back. I think Lupron messed with my hormones at 16 and I am still paying for that decision at 42.
Thank you!!
I’m 41 and was just diagnosed, after a decade of strange pain. I had docs say the same thing (no way you have endo). Go to another doctor! I know it’s a pain to keep searching ... good luck.
