Anyone On Visanne Having Unbearable Pain?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been on Visanne 2mg for 6 weeks. The spotting/light bleeding started 10 days after I was on the pill, and until today, the bleeding never stopped. It got a bit heavier starting at week 5: bright red blood with some small clots, but much less bleeding than a regular period. From time to time, I got cramps and I took an Advil, then I can carry on without any problem. But for the last 3-4 days, my pain is getting much much worse. At 2AM I woke up by some very sharp spasms in my tail bone… read more

I also started having rectal pain while on Visanne, you should have another ultrasound to make sure there is nothing to worry about, in my case it was a rectal nodule that was not visible before Visanne treatment

I would definitely have a second opinion as visanne can actually cause cysts (or so it says in the manual). A laparoscopy would be good to at least diagnose you properly with endo. Maybe you have pcos?

Hi Snow, with me it is all the other way around. They saw 2 cysts on my ovaries and has so called kissing ovaries. Additionally my tumormarker ca125 was raised (which can be a sign for ovary cancer but is often also raised in patients with endometriosis). Because of that a laparascopy was made where he removed the left cyst, emptied the right one and took a biopsy. He saw I have many active endometriosis in my stomach and that there is an adhesive trace from uterus to my bowels. Additionally there was endometriosis in my vagina on my cervix. So no ovarian cancer but stage 4 endo. My doc now wants me to go on visanne for 6 weeks as a prep for a 2nd surgery (visanne should dry out the current active endometriosis sources), in surgery he will disconnect the ovaries, removes the endometriosis and will cut the adhesives. I found on Internet that cutting dairy and sugar as Well as taking supplements of magnesium, zinc, curcurma and nac should help bring the imflammation down as well. Am just a bit afraid to start the visanne as untill now my pain symptoms were no fun but something I could live with.

Hi AmberKielman, every one is different. You may not have as much pain as I did with Visanne. Now I am switching to Marvelon, regular birth control pill. I am starting to have back pain, which I never had before... sometimes I wonder whether I have endo (my CA125 is normal), or all my every day pain is from the side effects of these hormone pills... :(

Hi Dindi, was your ultrasound transvaginal? Or just external pelvic? And are you still on Visanne after the ultrasound?
