Side Effects Of Lupron And Orlisa
I hear allot about these drugs and have heard that the side effects are horrible. I recently had larascopy and the next step is likely going to bc e one of these meds. Why are the side effects so bad? I looked at the side effects listed and most of them seem to consider eith menopause pause due to the way the meds work but are there other effects to be weary of?
I did Lupron & while it helped me a lot for a solid 3 years, the treatment was worse than the disease. Hot flashes are killer along with mood swings. I'm on Orilissa now & I'm nauseous, back pain, hot flashes, mood swings... it's bad. And it hasn't helped me any after 3 months & me upping the dose for 2 weeks now.
Permanent bone and memory loss. The benefits do not outweigh the risk. I wouldn't do it. I won't even take bc since 2008. I was on bc from 2014 to 2008 had constant migraines and used to faint. Then my insurance would not cover ortho tri cycle low so they gave me the regular. I got the worst migraine I ever had sitting under the brightligts at olive garden. I lost my vision I could only see a tunnel on one side and a few slates of the light on the other I started freaking out because I couldn't see. My MRI came out normal the neurologist told me that BC reaks so much havoc in women and just say no to it period. I quit and never had a migraine again.
Orlissa is a new version of Lupron. Side effects include premature menopause, osteoporosis, memory issues and potential for brain changes. As a practicing NP, I would not prescribe it. Now retired but if anyone tried to give it to me, I would refuse.
I should also add that i have severe needle/medical phobia - even getting a shot causes me to have a full blown panic attack and/or faint - so iād much prefer medication side effects if it allows me to put off surgery for longer.
