Intercourse After Surgery

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
London, AR

Hi all,

I had a laparoscopy around 1 month ago. Within that month - I had a period that lasted about 3 weeks with severe cramping. I currently have a coil - as recommended by the doctors. The cramps do seem to come back every now and again (particularly when I am cold) - I tried intercourse with my husband today (after feeling very scared - it’s silly I know) and it felt a little tender. Is this expected? Or is it because it’s been over a month since I last did anything?

I think both! I’m in the same position as you. I had surgery a little less than a month ago and have had sex twice now. Both times I felt tender. We just took it slow. We are just going to try everyday until it’s comfortable again and no longer as tender and I adjust. I personally soak in warm water following for 5-10 minutes following to reduce tenderness. Hope this helps ❤️
