Any Of My Fellow Endo Sisters Get Pain Below Rib Cage Before Ovulation? And If So What Helps With The Pain?
Sometimes I thought it was heart attack, my bf normally massages me. He helps me to be calm and manage pain
Yes. I live on a heating pad and eat cbd gummies. I alo take Relfan, which is a stronger version of ibuprofen. Tylenol too, and tbh I still barely get through the day. Hope you feel better soon.
Before ovulation, yes. Definitely. Apologies because I am new here and don't know the protocol but I started having agonising pain around the time my estrogen spikes just before my LH surge and it stops 2-3 days later after egg release. So a total of 4-5 days at ovulation window but I don't experience any pain at the time of menstruation.
After I had my pelvic endometriosis removed in July 2019 (which came as a total surprise when they found I was riddled with it considering I had no other symptoms of endo whatsoever besides the chest and rib pain), the pain came back in the following month.
August 2019 there was the same rib/diaphragm pain but then it went away for the next 5 months from September to January. I thought I was cured and that the endo removal had fixed everything!
However...during those 5 months I was on Clomid for fertility treatment, which I believe suppresses your oestrogen in an attempt to make the eggs grow (or something like that - defs not a doctor!! Haha)
My last two cycles in 2020 have been completely natural cycles with no Clomid or any other fertility drugs and my pre-ovulation rib/diaphragm pain has returned at precisely the times mentioned above in the first paragraph.
I'm starting to wonder if this pain is actually related to an estrogen surge and not endometriosis as first thought?? Maybe some inflammation or something else occurring?
I did have a gastric bypass in April of 2018 and my pain started in June of 2018 however doctors do not believe that my pain is associated with my gastric bypass. Ie. It's not scar tissue or anything gastric.
It's all very confusing but basically the only thing that can control the pain is oxycodone and codeine because regular pain relief does absolutely nothing. Heating pads do not work and I've ended up in Emergency several times because of the severity of the pain.
Others will often suggest gallbladder pain however I had mine removed in 2009 so it is unrelated to this and several endoscopy investigations show no bile issues.
I'm really sorry to hear that you are also experiencing this pain because it's horrific. I lose nearly a week of my life each month... although being on the Clomid did stop the pain for 5 months so maybe there's something to that?
I hope this has helped and hasn't confused you further... I, too, am just trying to gain an understanding of what on earth is happening and why no one can explain it to me 😊🤦♀️🤷♀️
