No Period With Large Endimetriomas

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Hello,

I haven't had my period in a long time.

My doctor told me about 6 months ago that I could take my pill each day and skip my periods all together because I was finding them too painful. I was told recently I have 2 large cysts on my overies and stopped taking the birth control pill as the ER doctor advised 3 weeks ago and still I have not had a period.

I see the GYN on Friday and will ask her also, but i am wondering if anyone has had this happen?

I am so appreciative for this forum… read more

I went thru similar and from my experience it took almost 4 months after stopping for my body to rid itself of the residual hormones and have a period. Also from my experience the first period will be absolute hell. I agree about finding out that I had endofam helped me feel not so alone, not so alienated. πŸ’›

I have recently discovered that I have large cysts on my ovaries and I was prescribed birth control and sent to the GYN who's only recommendation was surgery. I would thing the same thing..a period would flush the blood out, but apparently they want to stop ovulation and bleeding to prevent the cyst from growing.

The ER doctor said that it may be helpful to stop to see if it flushes out that way. She wasn't a specialist, but it made sense to me. 😊

I'm curious about why he had you stop taking the BC? I don't like birth control myself, but I was wondering if he thought there was a connection between it and the cyst? Usually it's the opposite, you have cysts and they give you birth control. I get cysts all the time (I have one now actually) so I feel your pain 😩. Definitely prep for a crappy period. My periods with cysts are just the worst. I hope you start feeling better!
