Dairy Free For Endo?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Saw a gynaecologist today and he mentioned a change in diet could help, turmeric, ginger, flax seed is all good apparently and vitamin D and omega 3 (not from fish) is important. He said that dairy is bad for cysts and wombs in general which I’ve heard before, I’m going back for a check up in 8 weeks so i thought I would go dairy free and see if there’s a change. Has anyone else tried any of this with success? Thinking of cutting back on sugar too!

Hey! I personally had to change over to a dairy-free and gluten-free diet and have noticed a complete difference in how I feel. The amount of inflammation and discomfort decreased. Recommend giving it a try!

I have recently made that lifestyle change. The loss of my beloved cheeses and sour cream has devastated my heart and caused insane cravings. I didn't feel too different until I gave in to the craving of a stuffed crust pizza after being dairy free for a month. Then I died, well obviously not literally, but it was excruciating. The pain I'd been pushing to the back burner all that day was multiplied by about 50, the lava urine and tiny fire knives were at a high, and I was so bloated and gassy that I didn't want to be in the same room with me. Thus ended my life of cheese and sour cream indulgence.

On a more serious note, When not having dairy and taking a probiotic, I did find that my IC wasn't bothering me very much. I did lose 6 lbs in 3 weeks, but it's hard to say how much of that was just bloat and the fact that I'd had a bm earlier that day...Mostly though it's because I haven't really had a steady eating habit since because I'm still negotiating the foods and label reading and such. Plus, I'm the only one in my house making this change and we can't afford much extra stuff for me, so it's a bit of a work in progress.I have heard ginger is good for you, but haven't made that addition. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Oh, and @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member gave me a lot of dairy free suggestions when I mad the switch so that might help you.

I’m on the endo diet and as tough as it is there is a difference in the bloating. Oddly enough if I eat even a little something Im not suppose to I notice I get a lot of heart burn and immediate stomach pain. This diet is definitely helpful, even though I had to say goodbye to some of my favorite foods!

Endometriosis typically causes inflammatory kind of pain, which is why NSAIDs help it so much. I'll link an anti-inflammatory diet for you!
