Hi ladies. I figured you all would understand more than anyone else. I could use some feedback. So for over a year now I’ve had painful periods, abnormal bleeding, severe back and leg pain, terrible bloating etc. I even thought I had a miscarriage last summer even though they couldn’t confirm it. They did a sono and said everything was fine. Doc said it’s normal. Your periods change as you get older. Well my periods continued being extremely abnormal for me so I kept inquiring and the response… read more

A hysterectomy won’t change or even help the Endo. Look up a disease called Adenomyosis. A hysterectomy will help that but will leave you unable to have children, obviously. There are other treatments for Adenomyosis.

Yes still have endo even after all of my surgeries. I understand him not wanting to cause further damage but that would typically only happen if he tried to get rid of endo on the bladder or colon. Its actually pretty safe to remove from the uterus and the ovaries but when it comes to other organs the chance of perforation is high. They actually accidentally perforated my bladder during an ovary removal. But with all my laps to remove endo in the uterus, cervix and ovaries all turned out great! Unfortunately it just continues to grow back so that's why I ended up with so many surgeries. I was young when I had the ovarian torsions and I had not know better at the time how important it was to only have a surgeon who specialized in endometriosis do the endo cauterizations and excisions. Now I know better. So 5 years ago when I had the full hysterectomy I found the Dr who knew a lot about it. And now 5 years later having these other issues all of a sudden appear I would not go to anyone other than someone like this Dr. Janik who has practiced with complex endo cases for 36 years. So its so important to find a very qualified Dr!! Don't just let any obgyn do your surgery!

Yes so I was put thru menopause earlier in my 20's with lupron shots and it still didnt help me. I feel bad I don't have a better answer for you. Given how much I've gone through you would think I'd have all the answers by now. But endo is a tricky thing. My Dr plans to do surgery robotic and scrap my entire pelvic wall than get rid of any endo. Than a urogyno will remove the endo inside and outside my bladder prib having to open the bladder up again. After that I'm not sure. Will know more after my appt on Wed.

Yes, gastritis and endo are partners in crime. Heres a little Q and A from my surgeon at Cedars-Sinai, she has helped me so much!!

Hi, so first off I'm so sorry you are going through this! I wanted to at least share what I know. I had endo bad ever since age 14. Ended up eventually having 40 plus surgeries including laps to cauterize the endo, 2 separate ovary removals and than a full hysterectomy bc my pain just wasn't going away. I also have pelvic congestion which is where your pelvic veins pool with blood causing lots of pressure. So anyways I had the full hysterectomy 5 years ago and the past 6 months or so I started to get endo pain again and started to feel like I had ovary pain, but I don't have ovaries. Also had started to bleed down there so badly almost daily now and it all gets so bad I've ended up in the ER even though I am on heavy pain meds. So this last pelvic exam showed tons of blood in there but of course the ER Dr has no clue how that is possible and she also saw polyps and cysts along my pelvic wall. Took awhild but I finally found an obgyn specialist who diagnosed me with endo again and ovarian remnant. So basically they left some ovary cells in me and now my brain is telling my body I have ovaries so the endo is growing very fast and I'm getting periods basically. I see her on the 5th to talk more and schedule surgery. Unfortunately yes endo can grow anywhere, even after a hysterectomy!! I have it all over my pelvic wall, outside and inside my bladder, my colon, part of my stomach, liver and kidneys. Endo also can cause heart palpitations. That is very common. Scary, but no need for meds. I had my gallbladder and appendix removed a long time ago and both were covered with endo also. Unfortunately there isn't a cure as far as I know yet and I've been searching and seeing drs all over the workd who know the most about endo. Why some of us get it and others don't still no one knows. I'm not gonna lie, even though I couldnt get pregnant either and had all these surgeries, each one did help relieve the pain for a bit, but its worth it even if it improves 10%! Bc as you know this can be debilitating! I'm sorry I don't have better news for you, but have you tried kubacha tea? That does wonders for endo. My history is more than most but I kniw u r suffering and b4 u do something drastic please find the right Dr!!! That's so important. I'm not sure where you live, but if you are willing to travel to Milwaukee WI this lady I'm seeing is the best! The other specialists I've seen in other states even agreed she is most qualified when jt comes to endo and complex cases! So let me know if you have anymore questions for me. But there is also another guy in naperville IL who is just as qualified. There is a small group of drs who study endo enough to actually truly know what a curse it is but also know the best solutions too! Sending my love and prayers your way!
