Medical Menopause?
I hope there is someone out there that can share their experiences with this.
I had a total hysterectomy bi-lateral salpingo-oopherectomy via lapascope two weeks ago putting me into immediate menopause.
I’ve been doing well and am wondering if anyone out there has dealt with surgical menopause and if their experience of it was consistent or changes over time?
(I have no family history to compare my situation of endo/surgeries/menopause with)
I had a complete hyster with bso in November 2020-- i didn't go on hormones for 2 months. i was fine. no issues then BOOM! 2 months later i start experiencing hot flashes and other symptoms. i tried supplements and then i gave in and went on hormones. Now, i am tired of the period pains and trying to come off of them gently-- i was 41 when i had my hyster- so i am close enough to menopause age they don't have issues with me not taking hormones (i had my left ovary and a mass taken out about 5 months prior to my hyster- and had 1 massive hotflash -stopped me in my tracks and then i was ok. They told me that if i didn't experience any symptoms in the first month after- i would be fine-- well not completely true.
I had a total hysterectomy with BSO 3 year's ago I was in my early 40s and experience menopause symptoms within days after surgery. I have been taking hormones since my 2 week FU..
I have already had everything taken out back in September 2020 except my ovaries. This Friday I am having a bi-lateral salpingo-oopherectomy and I can let you know then. I already have had hot flashes and hormone imbalance issues with and without all of my body parts. Prayers and love.

Thanks for the response and I am sorry to hear. Do you still have one ovary left? Mine have gone and so far it’s been pretty consistent for me…really bad insomnia (I’ve had this on and off throughout life but way worse), hot flushes-touch wood-not too extreme, and mood sensitivity at times
I’m hoping not to have to go down that path because I don’t tolerate introduced at all. 😐
Pain hasn’t been so bad for me either except here and there some shooting pains and feel it when I walk too long. Mostly just fatigued and building strength and health back up.
Menopause symptoms aren’t bad. I asked my surgeon at the check up if they’ll get worse because it seemed like I’d got off lightly!
It’s been such a relief from how I’ve been over the last 4 years.
Thanks for responding
