Surgery To Remove Uterus And Adhesions
Greetings. Has anybody had surgery with endometriosis to remove uterus and possible cutting part of intestines as glued to uterus? What was the success or complications
Turns out I have to hang on to my uterus due to bowel Endo complications. My symptoms pale what they used to be so as long as I can ride status quo through menopause, no surgery for me.
I had my hysterectomy due to same symptoms plus adenomyosis but left the ovaries in July 2023. Kinda wish they had taken the ovaries too and my bowel endo appears to still be active with estradiol HRT to counteract the progestin only birth control we have been using to stop my cycle (ovaries are going from zero estrogen to pregnancy levels every 2 weeks as I am 49 in perimenopause and it's brutal as well as feeding my endo). It's been 1.5 years and will be going back to my surgeon to see if we can do more surgery to get rid of more endo as I continue to be miserable and endo is not managed unless there is no estrogen at all in my system which causes vaginal atrophy (could barely sit down for 3 months, burns all the time), hot flashes, depression, weight gain). Getting rid of my huge endo riddled swollen uterus was a big help though so am still glad I did that but recovery was very tough. Not looking forward to more surgery.
I had a complete hysterectomy (but kept ovaries to keep from going into menopause) in February. What was supposed to be a 2-2 1/2 surgery took almost 5 hrs due to all the adhesions (bladder, colon, uterus, tubes, intestines, vagina were all tied together). Best decision I could have ever made (especially after being in the ER due to insane pain twice within 2 weeks before my surgery). I am 7 mpo, and am now dealing with minor sharp pains again on my left side. Have gotten 2 vag ultrasounds in the last 3 weeks (drs orders) which have resulted in my left ovary cannot be seen, and either an ovarian cyst or endo on the right side that has doubled in size in 3 weeks. While it sucks that Iām still dealing with this, I still feel so much better after having the hysterectomy.
I also have an appointment in the making for a partial hysterectomy... We have cows and horses and lots of dogs and the fibroid tumor is causing a lot of pain and a burning sensation... My doctor is kind enough to get it done before winter... The beginning of October. You have to do what your body tells you.
How soon are you needing to know? I have recently decided to ditch the uterus & have same scenario. I know it won't cure endo & Lefty can still throw cysts but after a recent bitchin endo flare my fibroids are causing mega grief. I have a very physical job doing which has been impacted+ my weight is up while eating less & my back hurts. I'll keep you posted š¤
