A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Surrey England

I had an internal ultrasound today for pain new pain had for 2 months they’ve found quite a large cyst inside my ovary. I may just be panicking over nothing but I was meant to be trying for a baby about now. I only have 1 ovary and I’m so concerned 1. It could burst and burst my ovary and 2. That the gyne may have the take my ovary out. I’m quite frankly terrified, I’ve always wanted kids, there’s nothing I want more. Any advice or experiences people have had I would be so grateful to hear 💛

Members opened up about ovarian cysts and fertility concerns, with many sharing reassuring stories of cysts resolving on their own, being managed with hormonal treatments like Orilissa or Qlaira, or successfully removed through cystectomy or laparoscopy without losing the ovary. Several members emphasized the importance of exploring all treatment options before surgery, getting second opinions, and having honest conversations with a gynecologist about preserving fertility, as some procedures can affect ovarian reserve. A recurring theme was hope and solidarity as members navigated the emotional weight of fertility struggles, painful symptoms, and treatment decisions, with many celebrating when cysts disappeared naturally and encouraging each other to keep advocating for their baby-making dreams.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member Good day, the reason in the first place they want to do cyst drainage is because I want to get pregnant,
And we have been trying for a year now, so the gynaecologist advised that I start with laparoscopy before trying again. Apparently they will be clearing some Endometriosis as well as draining the cyst in one procedure... Thereafter we can try again☹️

The reason I'm on oral contraceptives now for 3months it's because I was taking another root to try and avoid that procedure

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member if you are trying for a baby it’s better not to do ovarian cyst drain , as any procedure in Ovary can lead to reduced AMH level. Discuss with your doctor in this regard if any non invasive method can be done and proceed further.
