Does Anyone Else Get Severe Pain Down Their Leg Into Their Knee When Flaring?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all, it has been a while. I hope you’re all well! I’m not that great with posting a lot of the time, but will try to keep up with my post as I’m back to working full time in a more physically demanding job than the previous, but I’m enjoying the new job
To the question… I’ve been finding that when I’m having a particularly difficult flare, that the pain travels down my right leg (sometimes left, but mostly right) and towards my knee and it is excruciating & I struggle to sleep or do anything… read more

Endo can definitely cause pain that refers down the legs, one or both. When I had period pain I had it down to both knees, but now I’ll get radiating symptoms down my right leg. Endo can show up on your nerves as well, such as your sciatic or femoral nerves, and I read somewhere it’s more common on the right side than left. I agree with the other commenter than reducing sugar can help a lot. Inflammation is usually the biggest cause and things that can reduce inflammation usually help quite a bit. I always recommend the book Heal Endo by Katie Edmonds if you haven’t read it yet!

Thank you for your response. Sorry to hear you’re going through that! Flares really are the worst. I haven’t heard of trying a sugar free diet, I’ve heard about trying dairy free. Thank you, you too. 😊

Sorry to hear of your pain caused by the glare ups. I’ve just “survived “ a flare up myself that lasted 2 weeks. I was literally limping to work. I always overcome flare ups by walking them out - lots of walking 1-2hs /day and going on a sugar free diet. Light Yoga also helps relax the muscles and reduce the pain. Take care.
