How Do You Deal Or Manage Shoulder Pain?

Do you have chest pains along with the shoulder pain? I talked to my endo surgeon. He said there are a couple causes. The most common is frozen shoulder. This is a condition of unknown origin, but can happen when estrogen drops in the body (I went off of birth control). It happens to a lot of diabetic , thyroid, and autoimmune patients. He was going to run an MRI bc he can see adhesions. There are different treatment methods that range from HRT to PRP, PT, acupuncture, diet, etc. An orthopedist can also help if it is that. Not much is known and it runs its course over a couple years. It’s an inflammatory response. I actually think I had frozen hip for the last 2 years and that’s why I couldn’t walk-but it got better. It does fit into the endo wheelhouse. It shed some light on some things that I will now be looking at. It does belong in the connective tissue disorder family, which goes along with my hypermobility. It is very common with women age 40-60. I saw some publications by a Dr. Vonda Wright about it. And if you look at some of the top Endo Surgeons websites-they do discuss shoulder pain.
I would start with an orthopedist and an endo specialist.

I think this is a really interesting question and I’m curious to see how many women have this. I developed shoulder pain a month after my hysterectomy/excision in Jan. A woman on Reddit said the same thing happened to her. I didn’t know if it was related because we both had hypermobility and endo. I tried everything-PT, cortisone, etc and I don’t know what causes the flares. Nothing is physically wrong. When and why did yours start?

Top of your shoulder? When I was diagnosed I was told that could be the ovarian cysts swelling and putting pressure on nerves in my pelvis. For me it’s an early sign of a flare and so I take a couple aspirin or Advil and go to bed early if possible.

I know this post was a while ago but I am AGOG that other people have this and it may be related to endo! I had the most intense shoulder pain about a year ago that got worse quickly - I do have an injury under my shoulder blade from 10 years ago but my actual shoulder got so much worse. So bad that I couldn’t move my arm! Intensive PT helped A LOT for me, but I had an amazing PT who did a lot of massage and targeted tension release and really gentle exercises for at home. Also heat for 15 min at the end of each appointment. Still blown away that this could be related to end 🤦‍♀️ it never even crossed my mind

Your shoulder pain may be different from mine. I would talk to an endo surgeon who is in the know (mine was) because he said there are several origins. And also an orthopedist just to get an MRI just to make sure nothing is wrong physically. The battle continues….
