Is It Worth It To Get Exploratory Surgery/possible Excision 12 Years After Hysterectomy With Ablation?
I had a hysterectomy 12 years ago with ablation to multiple endo sites, still have ovaries, just had my hormone levels tested and they are still fully functional
I've been having increasingly worse pain and symptoms like I had pre-hyst the past 5 years. Would it be worth it to get another surgery to see if there is endo again and see if I can get it excised instead of just ablation? I had it badly on my bowls when I had my hyst. and I'm concerned the endo has returned there and is causing a… read more
nikki8 - oh it's awful when you have a major surgery to fix something only to have it come back! I hope your surgery goes well and you get relief from it! I'd love to hear an update for how your surgery goes.
I'm really starting to contemplate surgery again after a really intense flair up this week but I'm so scared they will open me up and say everything was fine and there was nothing there.
I did have an ultrasound that showed my ovaries are adhered but that might be from my surgery and not endo, so idk, I'm just so scared to get surgery for nothing. I felt that way when I had my hysterectomy when they found all my endo though. I didn't want to get just the laparoscopy for endo because I was scared they wouldn't find anything and I would have gotten it for nothing so I begged for a hysterectomy so I could just be done with it and once I woke up from they surgery the doctor said I had endo everywhere and no wonder I was in so much pain so I felt like my years of suffering and being treated like I was crazy were vindicated then. Only later I found out hysterectomy doesn't even cure endo, and that ablation isn't always effective especially for bowl endo. But even after all that I still get scared it's all in my head, probably because that's how I've always been treated by the medical system.
I'm 42 so I really was kind of hoping I was going to have menopause soon so I could just be done with hormones but my gyn and blood work say menopause looks like a long way off for me.
My GI issues are extreme bloating and distention, spasms, constant pain and cramps, slow motility, food backing up, and constipation.
I’m in a similar situation—had an ablation in 2020 and a partial hysterectomy in 2022 (still have ovaries). My pain has returned full force and I’m having pain in new areas with GI involvement. I’m electing for exploratory surgery again for excision because I’m not a good candidate for hormonal treatment. It’s worth having the disease excised even if it is just shy of 3 years since my last surgery. The pain is too much.
I hope you get the relief you deserve.
Im so sorry to hear that gurl. How old are you? And what are your GI issues? Coz im having them too… :(
