My laparotomy was December 2nd and this past month I've been getting little episodes of little sharp jabs. They'll stop for hours and randomly return.

Lysteda For Heavy Periods?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Michigan, MI

My 17 year old daughter is having a lap mid Oct for suspected endo/heavy bleeding/pelvic pain. Her hemoglobin is low during her period. We know this because we donate blood regularly and she has been differed three times for this.

So the doctor said he can prescribe Lysteda after her surgery (at post-op appointment) if she’d like. Has anyone taken that before?

Multiple Laparoscopies

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Wellington, UK

Hi everyone, I am due to have another laparoscopy due to severe pelvic pain and had one previously only six months ago. I am wondering if anyone knows if they'll use the same incisions as last time? Or will they go through different entry points?

Thanks! (From someone who doesnt want to add to the four incisions already on my abdomen hahaha)

Was Anyone Able To Conceive After A Laparotomy??

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Atl, GA

Ok, so my surgery date is coming up fast and I just have a few questions. My first question being, how long will it take me to really recover after a laparotomy? Has anyone else had minimal or no pain at all since a laparotomy? Also, was anyone else not able to get pregnant after a laparoscopy, but finally able to conceive after a laparotomy? Please I'd really appreciate some answers.

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member

I got pregnant 2 years after my laproscopy. I fell naturally after following tips from the book ‘It Starts With the Egg’ by Rebecca Fett; 2 days before I was due to start fertility treatment!

Yes you can, because you will still have your uterus and ovaries. Laparotomy is just open surgery to correct what is incorrect.

Should I Have Surgery?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Chicago, IL

I had surgery for endo 5 years ago. It wasn't by a true endo specialist, but she was pretty good and a lot of the severe pain went away. It's gotten worse over time, but I'm doing okay. I have flare-ups that are bad (not always related to my period) but I also have times when I'm doing pretty well. I do have a pretty constant pulling on my right side, though.

My worse symptom currently is hormonal. I have horrible pmdd/depression. I get my period every three weeks.

I am currently… read more

Thanks! Yeah, it's more hormonal, but I can't be on any hormones, so really there's nothing to control it. :(

Bowel Pain Every Morning Post Laparotomy?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Perth, AU

Ever since having my lap a month ago every morning I wake up with moderate bowel pain telling me I need to poop and it goes away straight afterwards. Not too worried about it it's just different for me. Anyone got any ideas?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member

I think that's normal post surgery. Magnesium and lots of water should help. Remember mornings you are most dehydrated so drinking room temp water (with lemon optional) as soon as you wake up may help
