Feeling Like a Burden with Endo

Updated on December 27, 2018

Living with endometriosis can be a physical and emotional burden. In some seasons of life, endometriosis causes painful relationship and intimacy issues. It can be difficult for partners, family, or friends to understand the pain and fatigue.

On MyEndometriosisTeam, the social network and online support group for those women with endometriosis, members talk about a range of personal experiences and struggles. Feeling like a burden is one of the top topics most discussed.

Here are some question-and-answer threads about feeling like a burden:

How do you ladies deal with your partner's emotions towards endo?

Does anyone have a way of dealing with negative responses from coworker, friends and family?

Has anyone had to cut their hours or quit working/ school? If so how do you guys handle it? For me it can get depressing because people don't understand why I barely work...

Here are some conversations about feeling like a burden:

"I don’t enjoy sex anymore and my partner is fine with limited sex as long as we can do other things but bc I feel crappy all the time, I don’t even want to do anything. It effects our relationship and idk what do to."

"I was just wondering if people with endo lead normal-ish lives (or have a new normal). I am 27 years old and I enjoyed focussing on my career so much and didn't find 'the one' till now.. just wondering what are my chances of having a personal life along with having endo..."

"I’m a burden. On top of endometriosis I have extremely bad knees that I can’t seem to get any doctor to help me with... the drs just keep blaming my issues on my weight."

Can you relate?
