Anyone follow the FODMAP diet?? It’s suppose to help with IBS but wondering if it has also helped anyone with endo?

FODMAP actually seems to be less restrictive than the Endo diet. Endo diet focuses more on anti inflammatory foods. But it looks like most things on the endo diet are included in the FODMAP, so it’s your call. The thing that helps me most is cutting out dairy, but it looks like that’s a staple in FODMAP. But everyone is different.

Low fodmap has been great for me. Most places will encourage you to slowly add things back to see what your real sensitivities are. For me wheat, onion and garlic are the worst offenders so if I can keep them to low or none I can eat more fruit or dairy.

I follow a modified paleo diet (no eggs, dairy or grains) AND a low FODMAP diet. They are for different reasons. Paleo is for systemic inflammation. FODMAP is for gastrointestinal bloating due to gut dysbiosis. Of course, gut dysbiosis is the root of my need for paleo too probably, but the foods each have a different effect on my body. I can eat FODMAPS and just get gassy and bloated( like right now because of putting too much garlic in my soup tonight). But eating grains will give me full body inflammation and wrenching intestinal cramps. My esophagus and sinuses will swell and hurt. My lymph nodes will swell too. Eggs and Dairy just give me sinus infections from sinus inflammation. Each person is different and I have true good intolerances that are helped by diet changes. I discovered paleo 3 years before my endo diagnosis and @excision surgery. I'm 2 weeks post-op. Here is to hoping some intolerances lighten up!! Hope this helps you understand FODMAPS better. Also, there are a ton of conflicting lists. The best one I can find is the Monash University App. Oh, and low FODMAP should not be a long term solution. You need to work on your gut. The endo diet is a long term solution, though. FODMAPS are needed to feed all the good bacteria in your gut. If you cut them out you aren't getting and prebiotics to them.

It's been suggested to me, I personally follow the endo diet though and I think it's helping. It's still too early to say for sure but unless I haven't ovulated yet... my boobs are killing me so I'm pretty sure I must have ovulated which means it was a pain free ovulation! Which is pretty miraculous for me, last month I was in tears the pain was so excruciating for the 30mins or so while I ovulated.
