MRI & Mirena
okay so i just want to ask if anyone on here has had a MRI for endometriosis? Ive read that it can be done to find endometriosis, especially deep infiltration. If so did you have to get the dye put into you, any side effects, feelings throughout the whole process and did it show anything?. I'm only asking because I've had that trans-vaginal ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and it showed nothing which is frustrating because my body is telling me that something is wrong and its not normal to be in⦠read more
You will find a diagnosys with an MRI most of it if its deep endometriosis. Some doctors need to see it before the do a,LAP as its not worthy to do it if you havw not got it.
I've had an MRI. It was the first test they did. Showed some evidence of endo and so a lap is now needed. But MRI only shows somethings, not others so is not always used. I HATE hospital things but the MRI was totally uneventful and no reactions to the dye they put in you.
I,ve never had an mri to diagnose endo, i,ve had trans vaginal ultrasound and normal ultrasound but to be honest i don,t think these are as definate as having a laparoscopy and yet they don,t always show endo as it can sometimes be hidden behind the bowel. On subject of the Mirena coil i had one fitted 2 weeks ago so still early days for me but i can tell you its extremely sore to have it inserted and you get really bad cramping during insertion & around a week later i had that bad cramps i read up on it and most women said they were exactly the same as labour pain (i couldn,t say yes or no to this as have never had a pregnancy) but i can surely believe it as they are not good. I have also had light bleeding since having it in & not near my period but that has now settled but still get unusual discharge at minute. Hope this helps you but don,t get pressured into having the coil as it does not work for everyone!!!! Good luck xxxxx
Ultrasounds wont show endo. Ive never had an mri for endo. I have had mri's for other issues and had no issues with the injected dye.
Even an MRI might not find it, especially if performed by someone used to dealing with endo.
Don't let your doc pressure you into anything. I'm trying continuous oral bc for now, but might switch to mirena if things don't get better in a few months. Seems like people either love it or hate it.
