Has Anyone Had A Mirena Coil Fitted Whilst Also Talking The Pill?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had the Mirena Coil fitted during my Laproscopy back in 2014, it had a minimal affect to the pain I was in. So after switching doctors it was suggested that I take the combined pill alongside it. I'm now a few years into this management plan and back at the Gynae because my symptoms are becoming problematic again. I've seen so many doctors and very few have heard of using the two together. Just wondering if anyone else using them together and what your experiences have been?

I had 24 hour pain on the left side. My periods were very heavy and irregular with painful cramping during and mid cycle. My periods lasted between 7-10days and the odd month the entire month. I had the laproscopic surgery a month before getting the IUD. I take 3 mylan movisse progesterone pills a day. I think my hormones are much better now. I only have a sore back, fatigue and the odd cramp now.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I'm so sorry to hear you are having a rough time, I completely understand how you feel. I went through something similar. There is definitely an adjustment period for having a coil fitted.

I bled so badly and the cramping was unbearable, however when I started using it with the pill it completely stopped my bleeding and most of my symptoms.

I really hope your body adjusts soon! But for now try and be patient with your body (even though it is so frustrating and painful) and get plenty of rest x

I have an IUD (Liletta) and take a birth control pill daily. I just finished my first month of the pill. The pain has gotten worse after receiving the IUD and my period started 3 days ago. It’s my first one in 7 years and I’m miserable. The cramps feel like someone has a knife inside me and it’s turning it. And I’m bleeding heavily. My specialist said there is an adjustment period for IUDs for it to implant and for your body to get used to both types of birth controls. Fingers crossed that things get better.
