Birth Control Recommendations?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone have suggestions on what birth controls help the most? My endo has caused my whole body to swell up with extreme bloating and continuous pelvic pain. There are SO many birth control options but I want to make sure I choose the one that will be the most helpful to treat my symptoms without extreme mood swings. (I already have a predisposition for depression.)
I was on Larin FE which hasn't helped at all and I just started Isibloom.

Honestly, I didnt realize I had Endo until after they removed my Nexplanon. I was doubled over in pain 3 days after removal. It took several appointments with my gyno before we finally got the diagnosis. Everybody is different so I'm not sure if it will work for you but Nexplanon worked for me. I had no periods so no shedding. Hope you find some relief soon. 💕

Hi TattedDancer, did birth control pills or the depo provera shot help? Neither helped me, but I haven't tried nexplanon. I am trialing Orilissa now. I would consider trying nexplanon in the future, but my doc said no cuz it can cause worse bleeding. Curious what your doc thinks. Thanks!

No birth control will help. Sorry but it is true. BC is not a treatment for Endo. You need to get yourself to a specialist (an Endo specialist). If you have bowel related symptoms, it could be adhesions and as a result Endo on your bowel. It requires surgery... all of it does. The only proper way to treat Endo is excision surgery. Go look up Nancy's Nook on Facebook and find a specialist in your area to help. Nancy's Nook is a great page aimed at providing the latest information on Endo and is great for educating yourself on what it is and what you need to do.
