How Much Time Passed Between Your Surgeries?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Also how did your doctor determine you needed another? I had my first laproscopic surgery last April and had endometriosis laser removed. I have felt NO relief since the surgery and I almost feel like my pain has gotten worse. I was in chronic pain and in and out of the hospital for ten years before the idea of endometriosis came up. Now I know what it is but I'm afraid to talk to a doctor about ho much pain I'm still in because I'm worried they will just have me do another laproscopic bc that's… read more

I had my first ablation surgery in June 2018 then had excision surgery in December 2019. I think it is important to make sure your doctor is doing excision otherwise abalation just burns off the top layer of endo and the roots are still there so it is more likely to grow back. There is a list of excision surgeons all over the country in the Nancy’s Nook group on Facebook. Also, you could ask your doctor to maybe try pelvic floor PT. That helped adding some repief for me in between my surgeries, but since I was still having symptoms and they were getting unbearable I went to the excision surgeon.

I've only had laparoscopic surgeries since 2017's diagnosis, and I've had 6 of them. Every 3-5 months for mine. However, I do want to get excision done if I need to in the future. I just can't afford it right now!

Hi! I had an ablation vs excision done 10 years ago and holy heck it made everything way worse! :( thankfully now they know that is not the answer to endometriosis. Praying you can find someone to help you and get it taken care of the right way.

I had my first surgery early May 2018. It was also laser ablation and I lost my ovary to two large endometriomas. I felt some better for a bit but not really. My dr kept telling me I was healing and to be patient but I may always have that pain. I never felt right.

I saw an excision doc in May 2019 and had surgery in August 2019. I FINALLY got relief. He found all sorts of adhesions, my uterus was completely stuck to my abdominal wall. The difference was excision surgery. Not only was he able to remove all that was left behind from the last one, he was able to remove it from spots lasers can’t remove. It’s been almost 6 months and I feel much better.
