Does Anyone Experience IBS-D During Your Cycle And Then IBS-C The Rest Of The Time?
Considering going to a gastroenterologist for IBS symptoms, is it possible to have endo and IBS?
It is possible to have both and they can exacerbate each other. It's also possible for them to mimic each other and you only have one of the issues.
It would definitely be to your benefit to get a good GI doc on your team; they could help lessen your symptoms even if not resolve them.
If you are into dietary changes, I'd recommend looking into low FODMAP - has helped me deal with IBS a lot.
At this point I do make my own garlic oil, but I buy onion oil from a place locally that specializes in oils and vinegar.
One thing I have found which may be of encouragement for you is that after a year or so of strictly following low oligio, I have been able to successfully reintroduce some things. I still can't do onions, garlic, barley or beets, but I successfully had bean soup yesterday without issue!
And the low FODMAP is rough - very confusing especially at first, and impossible to explain to other people. I tried every other elimination diet under the sun first, just to avoid doing the low FODMAP one. . .but I was so hugely and instantly reactive to oligosaccharides, there was no denying. Also why the other elimination diets didn't work for me - I was putting onion and garlic in everything! It has been super hard to stop doing that, but has made me way less miserable.
That is good to hear. I haven’t tried onion oil before, I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for the encouragement 🤗
Oh yes onions and garlic for me too! And surprisingly enough-roasted brussel sprouts. I downloaded the Monash University app and that has been a game changer. I also track everything on myfitnesspal, which is helpful. Have you tried the ColaVita garlic infused olive oil? It has really spruced up cooking for me!
