Two General Laparoscopy Surgery Questions/Curiosities

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi! Would appreciate any thoughts or insights anyone has. Thank you!

Is there anything that in hindsight you wish you knew prior to surgery? Whether about the surgery itself, aftercare, questions you wish you would’ve asked the surgeon, etc.

At what point did you feel like the surgical pain was gone/at a manageable level where it wasn’t all you were thinking about?

Hi Eve! I wish I would have known that I would wake up in a LOT of pain. I got through it but I woke up sobbing from the intensity of the pain (maybe I wasn't given enough meds?) However, due to the improvement in my quality of life-it was so worth it! I felt that my post-surgery pain was mainly gone 2 weeks later (although those were a rough 2 weeks-both physically and emotionally).

If you are looking for pre and post surgery ways to care for yourself, I created a soul-nourishing 8-week virtual Endometriosis Retreat that will be offered for the first time in January-February 2024 which draws upon my experiences as an Endo Warrior and my skills as a Certified Health Coach. This retreat is centered around the less-addressed areas of wellbeing-the emotional, spiritual and relational aspects of living with Endo.

Living with Endometriosis invites us to start valuing, trusting, and listening to our bodies, our emotions & our experiences as worthy of being honored and heard.

I planned each week around a particular topic that I found necessary to explore based on my own experiences with Endo (eg: living from compassion, expressing your story, and preparing for surgery). Based on each week's topic, I will be leading us through grounding care practices (eg: meditation & journaling), sharing uplifting guidance, holding space for reflection on meaningful questions and creating the opportunity to partake in creative activities.

I hope you will join! Details at https://www.wucherwellbeing.com/endometriosis-r...

Have a beautiful day! :)
