Just Got Scheduled For My Laparoscopy (yay!) But It’s Two Weeks Before My Bridal Shower (yikes). Am I Going To Be Fully Recovered By Then?

I took the typical two weeks off of uni after my Laparoscopy, I felt okay after about a week and a half and was ready to go back, but took the extra time per my universities regulations. Most of my discomfort was the gas - heat pads and hot water bottles on the aching areas helped so much, plus peppermint tea and all your typical comforts (e.g. chocolate, movies, books, comfy clothes, heated blanket). Luckily a lot of those things you can incorporate on the day of it takes you a little longer to recover, so you should be okay.

Congratulations!! X

Don't do any heavy lifting. The general anesthesia takes about a week or 2 to make you feel less like a zombie tires and achy feeling. Think flu symptoms don't over do it.

Congratulations on your surgery date and nuptials! I had my first surgery on Thursday, 12/26/24. I have 2 incision marks in addition to the surgeon's entrance through my belly button that is healing. I had my first follow-up on 12/30 where they cleaned and examined my marks, and my next is 1/21. I wouldn't say I felt "fully recovered" at Week 2, but I did feel up to walk 10 minutes to a nearby restaurant for dinner with my parents. I was out for maybe an hour or so, and was very eager to return to resting. I am still feeling tender in some ways, but much of that can be attributed to I had my first period post-surgery this week. People warned me it may feel like it's getting worse before better. I braced myself for worse, but with medication, pain was mild and the main indicator of healing was passing larger clots. Overall,I have found it nice to mostly rest and practice stillness. I'm much more energetic now at the end of my period, but internal healing milestones go from 1-2 weeks to 4 to 6 weeks and then understanding perspectives and shifts at the 6 mos and 1 year mark. If you haven't heard of it before, Peggy Huddleston has a surgery protocol called "Preparing for Surgery, Heal Faster" and I found the book, meditations, and healing statements I asked the anesthesiologist to say over me at the start and end of surgery high contributors to my peace. Happy to share more! As long as you are able to move at a gentle pace, avoid lifting, and repetitive bending, I'm hopeful you can enjoy yourself and being showered by loved ones. Congratulations again!

Congratulations on your engagement the bridal shower and laposcopy surgery. Just be careful lifting heavy gifts. Let someone else do the lifting so you don't rip open your stitches. Let your body heal and buy the belly bandage tape to keep your adsions clean and from rubbing up against your clothes. Dress comfortable and cute. You will be recovering from surgery after all. Take time for yourself you are the bride after all.

Don't over do it! Avoid heavy lifting for at least a go month. Rest as much as you can and Dr are always making us try a Fodmap diet plan for ibs / Endometrioma lifestyle change. Limit the amount of caffeine that causes gas bloating. That was hard for me limiting soda. Flavor water enhancers making your home smoothie with miralax cap of mixture 2x a day to help with the gas bloating and movement passing.
It is not easy but every day we are all going through the same or similar chronic illness.
Sending positive vibes to you.
