Lupron

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Have any of you tried Lupron for just one month? My GYN wants me to try it for a month to see if my pain goes away. He says if it does, than the pain is still from the endometriosis (I had a laparoscopy Excision and Burning in December and am on the Mirena but neither has helped with the pain,) and if it doesn't go away, it is from something else. I'm worried about taking it. I don't react well to a lot of drugs. Would like to know what to expect from a 1 month round. Thanks

I was on it for a month. Not the worst, not the best. It's up to you. If you do it, I suggest using add back to prevent issues. I was on it while undergoing chemo so I'm not sure what side effects are from Lupron and what was chemo.

Well I started add back Estrogen a week and a half ago and now I'm up vomiting and crying in pain. I haven't had an episode nearly this bad since July. Every medication effects every person differently as well. I wasn't saying it in a place where you needed to defend yourself. So I apologize for that. I know what the side effects are and at 11 years old I had osteopenia. At 22 years old right before my 13 month shot, I barely have osteoporopenia. I'm currently on the verge of normal. After 6 months of Lupron I told everyone it was the devil. I hated it. I had hair loss and terrible hot flashes. At 13 months I have more hair than ever and it's growing like crazy. I don't have to take neurontin anymore for nerve issues, and my hot flashes are minimal. My doctor made a deal with me before my 2nd lap that I would do a year of Lupron following my surgery-that is the reason I chose to do it again. I definitely didn't want to. I hope this medication doesn't get banned because it's working for me.

Everything I mentioned I experienced within in the first month. I was just saying it's difficult to get a good taste in your mouth in the first month. The biggest thing was my pain shot through the roof at the 16 day mark and slowly dropped off. Your doc shouldn't be saying that if it doesn't go away within the first month tho because if you look up Lupron online and in the pamphlet it shows you how the hormone process works with a picture chart. I wish you the best, Hun! Let us know what you think!
