Advice Please?
Hiya,
Could you please give me your honest advice/thoughts? Currently at the end of my tether and don't know who else to turn to.
Since I was 14 (now almost 26) I have seen various different doctors and a gynaecologist being told all sorts of different things but all of them have said they suspect I have endometriosis. With my current doctor she is the best one I have seen to date and is really clued up on the disease and says she is 100% sure I have it and all my symptoms match, there'sā¦ read more
Doctors kept stuffing me around too it wasn't until I told my GP I was having trouble conceiving that I could get anyone to do anything... I suggest seeing another doctor all together and tell them u have had trouble conceiving a baby for over 2 years and ur periods are very irregular and painful, the GP should then refer u to a gynecologist who will do blood tests, an ultra sound and a laparascopy that's how I finally got diagnosed... I found in my experience that unless a woman has directly experienced endo themselves they think it's nothing like we make it out to be but they haven't had the experience!
Is this your GP? Or your specialist? If its your GP you need to be asked to be referred to a gynecologist (preferably an endo specialist). There are plenty of things that can help endometriosis. It can only be confirmed with laproscopy and typically they do excisions and cauterization of the endo while they are in there. For me personally, the surgeries have always been hugely helpful with my symptoms. It sounds like you need a different doctor.
Hey there! Read my story if you have the time, I just had laparoscopic excision surgery to remove endometriosis. I was in the same situation as you. Always have had the symptoms, believes strongly that I had endo, didn't know how to move forward. I highly recommend going to Amazon and buying yourself a copy of Dr. Andrew Cook's book Stop Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain: What Every Woman and Her Doctor Need to Know, it is a wonderful wonderful guide for us endo gals. He is one of the best endo specialists worldwide.
A laparoscopy is definitely necessary but I would do it with a specialist so they can excise it at the same time.
I would suggest finding a new dr as well. If u have endo, having a laproscopic surgery with excision of endo can improve your chances of conceiving naturally. If you are full of endo then getting pg can be difficult as well as if u plan on waiting 2 years then the endo can do more damage. If your dr wont do it, find one that will. Might even be worth calling a fertility dr and see what they suggest as well. They might be able to recommend a gyne that will help you. Im sorry your dr is being so stubborn
I understand what your saying cause I am kind of going through the same thing. I know I have endo, I had it all my life & I'm in terrible pain now. I been through a lot of doctors & a lot of test & the test show nothing but the keep having me do all these test when I know it is the endo. The only way they know for sure is through a Laparoscopy I scheduled for one Aug 12th. I found a surgeon that is willing to do it.I know it's the endo but if there is something else wrong then maybe it will sho up. It's all a guessing game for a lot of these doctors. I would go t another dr. I chose to see the surgeon that did my hernia surgery & he suggested the Laparoscopy so that is what I'm gonna do. I was never able to conceive so I adopted. I wish you the very best but as far as I know that is the only way to find out. After all the surgeries I've had the endo keeps coming back & plus I'm loaded with adhesions. Take care.
