Stage 4 Endometriosis Without Endometriomas Showing Up On Ultrasound
Can you have stage 4 endometriosis without any endometriomas showing up on the ultrasound?
Yes it’s absolutely possible, they told me I was fine for two years but I wasn’t getting pregnant, then I went to a reproductive endocrinologist and he did a vaginal ultrasound and saw endometriomas on both ovaries immediately, the abdominal u/s missed them entirely. My surgeon just told me that the MRI with and without contrast is the most accurate test of them all, who knew?
I have stage 3 and have had hundreds of pelvic ultrasounds (infertility treatments for 9 years), and the several doctors I’ve seen no one saw it on ultrasound.
Sadly, It is difficult to pick up endo on ultrasound unless the physician is REALLY skilled and knows what to look for.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member Get a laparoscopy done love. The scars are tiny, hurts for a month after and you have to keep them out of the sun/use sunblock to prevent dark scarring, but it’s definitely worth it! I had mine done a year ago and my scars are completely healed and practically invisible. Make sure your gynae is present and leading during the operation. Its the only way to properly diagnose endometriosis as it won’t show up on an ultrasound unless you have horrendous cysts the size of golf balls. Rather confirm you don’t have it with an op and live in peace, or confirm you do have it and take the necessary steps to contain it. ♥️
Hello! Any updates on your diagnosis? I believe I have endometriosis as well, but when a I get ultrasounds, nothing shows up so doctors don’t diagnose me with endo. What should I ask the doctors to further investigate if I have endo?
