Should I Have Surgery?
I am wondering about the potential benefits of surgery over the potential negative results. I've been on a surgery wait list since January 2020 to remove a 5cm endometrioma. Some things to keep in mind: even if you are managing pain & symptoms with birth control, the endo can still keep progressing. Also endometriomas on the ovaries is usually a sign of deep endo lesions elsewhere. Endo can be successfully removed & not return but endometriomas are trickier to prevent. Yes there is risk for adhesions with any surgery. There is the risk of the cyst bursting too. I'm not sure if fertility is important to you right now, but that's something else to consider too. If you do have surgery you'll need someone really experienced in the case of extensive disease so I recommend finding a true excision specialist, the links posted above are a great resource for that. Good luck in whatever you decide! It's so easy to doubt ourselves though when we are feeling fine but my suggestion is remember the pain that you were having & listen to what your body is telling youπβ€π
I had a laproscopic excision cystectomy surgery 10 days ago to remove 12cm and 10cm (approximately) endometriomas and I don't go a single night without giving thanks that I was able to have the surgery. I know it sucks right now recovering, but I will get my life back after I heal..
Wishing you all the best β‘β‘β‘
