Diazepam Vaginally?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question đź’
Phoenix, AZ

Hello my friends,

My doctor recently prescribed 5mg of Diazepam to take vaginally as needed for my pelvic floor pain.

Ive seen two ways on how to approach this and I’m not sure which method is best:
1. Crushing the pills and mixing them with a lubricate
2. Inserting the whole pill

Has anyone tried the above methods? And which did you prefer?

This website has brought me so much comfort. I’m relieved to know I’m not alone in this pain journey and I am so sorry for all my endo sisters… read more

Crescendo, I was expecting a suppository but I got the TINIEST pills ever. Based off your experience, maybe this method is better! I think I’m just gonna try the suppository method instead of crushing into little pills. Thank you for the insight! And this is the only medicine I’ve been prescribed so far- haven’t been on it long enough to know if it works/is worth it. I’ll keep you updated!

Hi Kinsey, sorry i did not take this pill before, it's first time i'm hearing it from you.
It seems depend on your comfort level on how to use it vaginally?
Thank you for your encouragement, indeed we are all in this pain together, hope you get well soon.

Also— is diazpam the only “benzo”-pill you can put up you? I am prescribed alprazolam for my extremely excruciating bladder/vaginal/pelvic-floor spasms. Its been a miracle worker ever since my former urologist recommended me trying it back in 2016 or 17’ish. I dont want to be on them anymore… but nothing, NOTHING else calms it down :((

Wait— doc gave you pill instead of suppository?! Why? Thats interesting! That may work much better for me… i have the suppositories to put up rectally because it HURTS wayyy too much to insert it vaginally. Maybe a tiny pill would be better. I never heard of this though, how long does it usually take for it to absorb & start working/ calming everything down??
