Has Anyone Been On The Bc Setlakin?

I've been on this for 3 months. You're only supposed to have a 3 day period on month 3 but I'm on period #2 in two weeks and it's hard and heavy. I lost huge clots and I am in a ton of pain. Is this normal? This is my fourth bc I've tried 🙄😔

I saw your other post saying that you're considering surgery as well & if it's with an endometriosis excision specialist then that would probably be the #1 thing to do. The more endo tissue you can have removed before pregnancy, the better.

Some top excision specialists have said that hormonal suppression before surgery makes the smaller Endo growths more difficult for them to see during surgery, so that's something to consider. Some, like the Center for Endometriosis Care say that taking it for just 2-3 months after surgery helps reduce the higher pain levels on your 1st few periods after surgery.

As far as specific hormones, Yaz is another combo estrogen/progesterone pill. Since you've had bad experienced with several of those, if you decide to stay on hormones or to take them for just 2-3 months after surgery, I'd consider trying progesterone only next. Hope that helps & isn't too confusing!

I've tried mylan (which is yaz) and another off brand I can't remember and they all don't work it seems. Even when I was on lupron, I had my period 3 weeks out of each month... You're not even supposed to have periods taking that. Should I just go off and see how it goes then if it's miserable I can always jump back on one?

I don't know about Setlakin but I had super irregular periods for the 1st 8 months of taking Norethindrone (progesterone only bc) continually. Sometimes I'd have one period every other week, then wouldn't have one for 2 months, then back to the every other week.

Since I didn't have my fibroids removed during surgery my periods were still heavy, super painful & lots of clots. After 8 months of taking it every day my period finally stopped & my daily pelvic pain reduced by about half, but those 8 months were ROUGH.

I also wonder if Setlakin might cause more pain than progesterone only bc, since it's a combo pill that contains estrogen & estrogen fuels the growth of endometriosis cells. Personally when I did have periods they were more painful with combo pills vs progesterone only.
