I've Noticed There Are So Many More Questions About The Pill Than Ever On This Platform. (see Below)
Would anyone be kind enough to tell us about being on and off the pill? x
Yes I did notice this Also. I found it kinda strange bc I grew up in the time when the pill was very popular and pretty much every girl I knew was on it. Now it seems like maybe they don't prescribe them as first line defense anymore as much as they use to.
Thank you so much for taking you time to write this. I'm so sorry to hear your awful that I hope has made you happier and stronger each day, because 53 surgeries?! Wow. And I've just had one yet. And I'm sure lots of us are glad you're here. Do take care xx
I mean from my experience when I first got my period at age 13 or 14 my period from the 1st one was terrible! So heavy, so painful and lasted forever it seemed! I was never regular. Once I had my 1st surgery at 15 and got diagnosed with endo the dr immediately put me on I believe the birth control was called seasonal. So I would only get my period once every 3 months. That in the beginning was a lifesaver for me. Even though when I did get my period it didn't help with the pain or heaviness of it. But after about 5 years of being on it it kinda stopped working fir me, I'd spot all the time so I eventually stopped and when I got married tried to get pregnant. Had a miscarriage after only being 6 weeks. Then was on amd off different pills for years. Then just stopped it completely while trying IVF, long story stopped it b4 they could get any eggs to fertilize but then that same year I ended up getting diagnosed with my bleeding disorder and after being in the hospital for 6 months bc I was vomiting blood every few hours, they couldn't figure out what to do to stop my bleeding except do endoscopy every other day to cauterize the bleeding in my stomach and give me blood transfusion to keep me alive. Again long story, but basically I was dying and the day my husband was taking me home so I could die at home instead of in the hospital and genetic dr who was familiar with my rare bleeding disorder came in and said all I needed was to be put back on the pill! Bc estrogen helps stop bleeding and within a week I stopped bleeding internally and from there they started this chemo...anyway they told me it was a blessing I never got pregnant bc during labor me and baby would have bled out and died. So I've been on the pill since about 2010 now. Since I've had 53 surgeries including 2 separate ovarian torsion so they took my ovaries out at 2 different surgeries than did a full hysterectomy a few years after. But the pill does help with my bleeding disorder, it doesn't help much with the menopause symptoms I still get on and off and it never prevented my endo from coming back. I still got surgery every few years to remove endo. But my last one was I believe 3 years ago so maybe bc I had a better dr that last time who actually removed the endo with excision that's why my endo isn't growing back as fast! I do have it in other organs though still. Sorry this was long. But i guess I've had good and bad experience with being on the pill.
